POSTPARTUM INFORMATION - HAIR LOSS

Hair loss after pregnancy is normal.

You may have noticed that you didn’t lose any hair during pregnancy as you normally would, or not as much loss as would be normal for you, therefore once your baby is born or once you finish breastfeeding your baby, you will notice that you are losing what seems to be a large amount of hair, your hair is playing catch up to make up for the hair you would have ordinarily lost during the 9 months of pregnancy. This hair loss will gradually reduce until it becomes normal for you again, this may be after you finish breastfeeding your baby, that is, once your hormones return to ‘normal’ as they were before falling pregnant.
