CRADLE CAP

Cradle cap is yellow crusty scales on your babies head, around their eyebrows, or behind their ears.

To diminish the cradle cap, you can try to rub some olive oil or baby oil into the area and wash it off later, or try some papaw ointment to soften it and then it will flake away. If neither of these methods help, consult your healthcare professional.

BABY ACNE

Baby acne results from hormones being passed from the mother to the baby from birth.

You may notice your baby has acne from two weeks onwards, it it only temporary and may last a few weeks. You don't need to treat the baby acne, just wash baby's face with water.

BABY HAIR LOSS

Your baby may have been born with a full head of hair only to lose most of it in their early months.

This again, is due to hormonal changes. Your baby's hair will grow back again, and it may even grow back in a different colour or texture.

Another reason for your baby's hair loss is if your baby is spending too much time lying in the same position. If your baby is losing hair from lying in the same position you can place your baby at one end of the cot for a sleep, and then place them at the other end for their next sleep as they may tend to favour looking at one side of the room. This will also help reduce any risk of them developing flat spots on their heads.
